Long extra high voltage (EHV) ac lines cannot be loaded to their thermal limits in order to keep sufficient margin against transient instability. Abstract
A new teleoperated system for live line maintenance is developed for electrical util-
ity. It's aim is to increase the safety and comfort of the workers and the overall
e ciency, as well as to reduce labour requirements.Its design is basically like other
similar systems already developed. It consists of a pair of hydraulic driven master-
slave teleoperated manipulators placed on top of an insulated boom, which execute
directly on the hot line tasks commanded via master arms by an operator on the
