Engineering Applications in Differential
and Integral Calculus

The authors describe a two-year collaborative project between the Mathematics and the Engineering Departments. The collaboration effort involved enhancing the first year calculus courses with applied engineering and science projects. Two enhanced sections of the differential (first semester) and integral (second semester) calculus courses were offered during the ....etc

INTEGRAL BRIDGES

INTRODUCTION

Integral bridges in simple words, can be defined as bridges without joints. Integral bridges are characterized by monolithic connection between the deck and the substructure (piers and abutments). They span from one abutment, over intermediate support to the other abutment, without any joint in the deck. Integral bridges have been constructed all over the world including India.

WHAT IS AN INTEGRAL BRIDGE?

Bridges constructed without any expansion joint (between spans or ....etc

Seminar on Relational Calculus

Comes in two flavours: Tuple relational calculus (TRC) and Domain relational calculus (DRC).
Calculus has variables, constants, comparison ops, logical connectives and quantifiers.
TRC: Variables range over (i.e., get bound to) tuples.
DRC: Variables range over domain elements (= field values).
Both TRC and DRC are simple subsets of first-order logic.
Expressions in the calculus are called formulas. An answer tuple is essentially an assignment of constants to vari ....etc

A Calculus Approach to Energy-Efficient Data Transmission With Quality-of-Service Constraints
Zafer, M. A. Modiano, E.
This paper appears in: Networking, IEE/ACM Transactions on Publication

Abstract

Transmission rate adaptation in wireless devices provides a unique opportunity to trade off data service rate with energy consumption. In this paper, we study optimal rate control to minimize transmission energy expenditure subject to strict deadline or other quality-of-service (QoS) constraints. Specifically, the system consists of ....etc

Integral bridges can be defined as bridges without joints. They span from one abutment, over intermediate supports to the other abutment without any movement joint in the deck. The advantages of integral construction are greater durability and lower maintenance costs when compared with jointed bridges.

Integral bridges are not new, masonry arches being a typical early example. The bridges on the first section of the M1 constructed in 1959 are examples in reinforced concrete. Many more recent bridges were built with simple spans and joints at i ....etc

how differential calculus used in engineering field

INTRODUCTION
There are a lot of branches of mathematics that are known to man. Also known as the language of numbers, it means many things to many people. Some may know it as a useful tool that is a key to getting civilizations rolling. But to others, they find it as an academic nuisance that only serves to lower grade transcripts. Still, what can't be denied is that mathematics is here to stay and it is actually a part of our lives, even down to the most basic things.

One of the foremost ....etc
