ABSTRACT

The topic of this project is steering controlled (or directional) headlights, that are usually a separate set of headlights fitted to road vehicles beside the usual low beam/high beam headlights and their feature is that they turn with the steering, so that the driver of the vehicle can see the bend, what he is actually turning into. due to the steering the head light tilts with the rotation of the steering about 20 degree , the Gear mesh is mounted on the cam plate with the page link mechanism due to this links the head lights gets tilted in right direction if the steering is rotated in right side or vise-versa. This is been implemented in BMW, AUDI Q7 , BENZ etc .. THE advantage is that road accidents can be avoided if u r in a new place & the weather condition is dark during day time & u dont know the path well enough diggs are around u can avoid the accidents . Ackermann steering is better according to me.

The intention of Ackermann geometry is to avoid the need for tyres to slip sideways when following the path around a curve.The geometrical solution to this is for all wheels to have their axles arranged as radii of a circle with a common centre point. As the rear wheels are fixed, this centre point must be on a line extended from the rear axle. Intersecting the axes of the front wheels on this line as well requires that the inside front wheel is turned, when steering, through a greater angle than ....etc

The rod CD is constrained to move in the direction of its length, by the sliding members at P and Q. These constraints are connected to the slotted page link AM and BH by a sliding and a turning pair at each end. The steering is affected by moving CD to the right or left of its nominal position.
