Applications of mains communications vary enormously, as would be expected of such a widely available medium. One natural application of narrow band power line communication is the control and telemetry of electrical equipment such as meters, switches, heaters and domestic appliances. There are a number of active developments that are considering such applications from a systems point of view, such as 'Demand Side Management' . In this, domestic appliances would intelligently co-ordinate their use of resources, for example limiting peak loads. ....etc

ATM makes B-ISDN a reality. The Integrated services Digital Network (ISDN) evolved during the 80's. It carried a basic channel that could operate at 64kbps (B-channel) and combinations of this and others (D-channels) formed the basis of communication on the network. In the new B-ISDN world, this is supposed to supply data, voice and other communication services over a common network with a wide range of data speeds. To understand a lot of the terminology in ATM-land, it is necessary to understand the B-ISDN Reference Model. Just as the ISO seve ....etc

The most important development in the computer communications industry in the 1990s is the evolution of the integrated services digital network (ISDN) and broadband ISDN (B-ISDN). The ISDN and B-ISDN have had a dramatic impact on the planning and deployment of intelligent digital networks providing integrated services for voice, data and video. Further, the work on the ISDN and B-ISDN standards has led to the development of two major new networking technologies; frame relay and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM). Frame relay and ATM have become t ....etc

Title: The design and implementation of a virtual machine operating system using a Virtual Page Link: The design and implementation of a virtual machine operating system using a Virtual - Posted By: sanjeevmajumdar Created at: Thursday 17th of August 2017 05:30:07 AM
ABSTRACT:- In the autumn of 1969, we decided to try a new approach to the design of a virtual machine operating system. Until that time, most installations using Virtual Machine Monitors merely ran operating systems that already existed for stand-alon use. Few, if any, installations had attempted to design and create an operating system that took advantage of its running environment. The Virtual Machine Monitor we were using was a highly modified version of CP-67 which was designed to operate on an IBM S/360 Model 67. Our design motivation cen ....etc
