A biogas reactor is an airtight chamber that facilitates the anaerobic degradation of blackwater, sludge, and/or biodegradable waste (e.g. animal manure, kitchen and garden wastes). It also facilitates the collection of the biogas, a mixture of methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) produced in the fermentation processes in the reactor. The gas forms in the slurry and collects at the top of the chamber, mixing the slurry as it rises. The pressure exerted by the rising gas can be used to transport the gas to the collection vessel or directly to w ....etc

structure and function of biogas plant wikipedia

Biogas typically refers to a mixture of different gases produced by the breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen. Biogas can be produced from raw materials such as agricultural waste, manure, municipal waste, plant material, sewage, green waste or food waste. It is a renewable energy source and in many cases exerts a very small carbon footprint.

Biogas can be produced by Anaerobic digestion with Anaerobic ORGANISM, which digest material inside a closed system, or fermentation of bio ....etc

Structure of Biogas ProgrammesStruktura Biogas ProgrammesThe structure biogas program depends on stage of development of biogas, in which the program operates. We have listed below some common forms of biogas programs with their important structural elements. In reality, these programs are often stages more biogas program. For example, the spread of biogas can be research and development (R D &) phase, test phase, the phase of dissemination and follow-up phase. Often these phases have a large overlap.

Abstract
Biogas technology, besides supplying
energy and manure, provides an excellent opportunity
for mitigation of greenhouse gas (GHG)
emission and reducing global warming through
substituting firewood for cooking, kerosene for
lighting and cooking and chemical fertilizers. A
study was undertaken to calculate (1) global
warming mitigation potential (GMP) and thereby
earning carbon credit of a family size biogas plant
in India, (2) GMP of the existing and target biogas
plants in the country and (3) atmos ....etc

1. Abstract
Biogas is a clean environment friendly fuel. Raw biogas contains about 55 65% methane (CH4), 30 45% carbon dioxide (CO2), traces of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and fractions of water vapors. Presently, it can be used only at the place where it is produced. There is a great need to make biogas transportable. This can be done by compressing the gas in cylinders which is possible only after removing its CO2, H2S and water vapor components. Pilot level trials to compress the biogas have been carried out ....etc

Biogas Generation and its Utililities

.Typically 55% methane (CH4) 45% carbon dioxide (CO2) H2S and H2O and trace gases
.Energy comes from methane only
.Energy value of methane 37.78MJ/Nm3
.Energy value of biogas 21MJ/Nm3

Anaerobic digestion technology

In the absence of dissolved oxygen, anaerobic microorganisms will tend to ferment biodegradable matter to carbon dioxide and methane which can be collected and use as a fuel. This process is called anaerobic digestion ....etc

biogas recovery from coconut husk retting

A large quantity of coconut husk is retted in the backwaters of Kerala, India to extract coir fibre. Coconut husk retting is a bacteriological process, which decomposes the binding materials that hold the fibres together in the husk. Retting takes place under anoxic conditions. Certain gases, similar in composition to biogas, are produced during this process of retting. Investigations were carried out to explore the feasibility of recovering this gas and using it as a fuel. The study showed that the ....etc
