A power supply system using a transcutaneous transformer to power an artificial heart through intact skin has been designed. In order to realize both high-voltage gain and minimum circulating current, compensation of leakage inductances on both sides of a transcutaneous transformer is proposed. AbioCor was a total artificial heart (TAH) developed by the Massachusetts-based company AbioMed. It was fully implantable within a patient, due to a combination of advances in miniaturization, biosensors, plastics and energy transfer. The AbioCor ran on a rechargeable source of power. This paper proposes fault detection and classification scheme for transmission line protection using WT and linear discriminant analysis (LDA). Current signals of each phase are used for the detection and identification of faulty phases and zero sequence currents are used for the detection of ground.
