The Pelton wheel is an impulse water turbine. It was invented by Lestar Alone Pelton in the year 1870 s. The Pelton wheel draws impulse energy from moving water, as opposed to the dead weight of water as the traditional over water wheel. The water flowing from these wheels normally still had high speed, taking much of the dynamic energy brought to the wheel.
