Abstract

We propose Bubble-Sensing, a new sensor network abstraction that allows mobile phones users to create a binding between tasks (e.g., take a photo, or sample audio every hour indefinitely) and the physical world at locations of interest, that remains active for a duration set by the user. We envision mobile phones being able to affix task bubbles at places of interest and then receive sensed data as it becomes available in a delay-to ....etc

Abstract

This paper presents an alternative approach to speech enhancement by using compressed sensing (CS). CS is a new sampling theory, which states that sparse signals can be reconstructed from far fewer measurements than the Nyquist sampling. As such, CS can be exploited to reconstruct only the sparse components (e.g., speech) from the mixture of sparse and non-sparse components (e.g., noise). This is possible because in a time-frequency representation, speech signal is sparse whilst most noise is non-sparse. Derivation shows that on avera ....etc

This report present a novel idea to capture and represent compressible signals for transmission and storage at a rate below the Nyquist rate. This method is known as compressive sampling/sensing employs non adaptive linear projections that preserve the structure of the signal.
