Introduction

Speed radar and laser guns are primarily used in law enforcement to detect the speed of a passing vehicle. With the introduction of video recording systems in police vehicles it has been natural requirement to interface the speed gun with the video system. This will produce an indisputable video recording of the actual vehicle along with the speed of the vehicle overlayed in the video

This system uses RF transmission technology. The RF transceiver module which I use has a range up to 100 metres in ideal conditions. This module can transmit and receive 4-bit parallel data with or without 8 address bits using a specific encoder and decoder IC s. Another module can be designed such that it can transmit and receive 8-bit parallel data with or without 10 address bits using a specific encoder and decoder IC s. The advantage of having the address bits is that message transfer can be made secure.

INTRODUCTION:
The idea to create a type of close proximity radar system came from a student in one of my classes. We went ahead and decided to streamline the idea into the course as one of the projects we'd build. The main goal of this project is to design and develop a short range intelligent digital radio wireless hub. And this hub must be able communicate between adjacent buildings on the campus using digital transmitter and receiver modules(Easy-Radio style). It also must have some interfacing capability like four LEDs for output and four digital inputs, a local USB interface and also mesh interconnection capability.
