Common rail direct fuel injection is a direct fuel injection system for petrol and diesel engines.

On diesel engines, it features a high-pressure (over 1,000 bar or 100 MPa or 15,000 psi) fuel rail feeding individual solenoid valves, as opposed to a low-pressure fuel pump feeding unit injectors (or pump nozzles). The world is surely and steadily moving towards the newer generation of direction injection diesels, be it unit injected or common-railed. Mercedes Benz had already introduced the common rail engine in India a few years back but then they are the technology leaders worldwide and augur no comparisons. so. it was a matter of time before one of the other car manufacturers in India took up the challenge and introduced the engine in a car that could be available to a much larger segment of the car-buying populace.
