Suratgarh Super Thermal Power Station is Rajasthan's first super thermal power station. It is located 27 km away from Suratgarhtown in Ganganagar district. The power plant is operated by Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL). The power plant has 6 units that can produce 250 megawatts each. The plant received a gold shield on August 8, 2004 from Hon'ble President for consistently outstanding performance during the years 2000 to 2004. It was established in 1973 , comprising of 2 units of each of capacity 110 MW.
It is located at the left bank of the CHAMBAL River at the upstream of KOTA BAIRAJ.
1st & 2nd units are of 110 MW each.
3rd ,4th &5th units are of 210 MW .
6th & 7 unit of 195 MW.
Total generation capacity (110+110+210+210+210+195+195) =1240 MW
Favorable condition
Abundant quantity of clean cooling water.
Good transport facility
